Meredith L. McGill is Associate Professor of English and Director of the Center for Cultural Analysis at Rutgers University. She is the author of *American Literature and the Culture of Reprinting, 1834-1853* (2003), a study of nineteenth-century American resistance to tight control over intellectual property. Her research in the digital humanities seeks to bring the vexed history of the regulation of print to bear on the adoption of new technologies for writing, publishing, and reading.
